
Joan Gladstone studied at Boston University's School of Fine Arts. An oil painter for more than 25 years, it brings her joy when people say her work is "colorful, beautiful and happy." Joan and her husband Ed Gillow have lived in Laguna Beach for more than 30 years. She enjoys volunteering as a Laguna Art Museum docent and serving as a City of Laguna Beach Arts Commissioner.

Joan is known for her vibrant yet serene oil paintings that capture California beach life. They include classic VW buses to Ferris Wheels and lifeguard towers. These paintings, and her series celebrating historic Route 66, evoke happy memories and a sense of nostalgia. Her artwork is in the permanent collections of the City of Hope Orange County, UCI -Health, Irvine, and collectors worldwide
